In the first half of 2023, overseas online demand on Alibaba’s international station increased by 33% year-on-year.
On July 13, Ali International Station released the digital foreign trade semi-annual report, showing that in various export industries and foreign trade markets, digitalization has become the biggest trend at present. It is reported that in the first half of the year, 90% of the industry’s online exports grew rapidly, and 91% of the online traffic in overseas markets rose, not only emerging markets such as Southeast Asia continued to grow rapidly, but traditional foreign trade markets such as Europe and the United States also returned to the growth track.
Qin Fen, head of industry and merchant business of Ali International Station, believes that with the promotion of new technologies, the purchasing habits of overseas enterprises are rapidly transferring to online, “digital foreign trade has become a necessary option and irreversible trend of global trade.”
At the same time, in the 2023 digital foreign trade semi-annual report, Ali International Station also predicted the largest foreign trade peak season in the second half of the September procurement festival of the eight big explosion, in addition to new energy, electric vehicles and other “new three”, there are flexible custom printers, laser cutting machines, excavators and other machinery and equipment with higher technology content is or is about to enter a high growth cycle.
In fact, according to the latest data of the General Administration of Customs, in the first half of this year, China’s cross-border e-commerce exports increased by 19.9% year-on-year, continuing to lead the overall growth rate of foreign trade exports, becoming an important help for the stable scale of foreign trade structure, and in the new technology-driven B2B digital foreign trade platform, new foreign trade explosive is also continuing to emerge.
In particular, the online export of automobiles has become a new highlight. Ali International Station data show that the online demand for new energy vehicles has increased by five times, and the demand for golf carts has increased by 257%. In addition, the demand for overseas infrastructure, family house renovation, outdoor sports and so on has also led to the rapid rise in the demand for machinery and equipment, home improvement building materials, clothing, consumer electronics, sports and entertainment.
At the same time, Qin Fen, head of industry and business of Ali International Station, according to the observation and platform insight analysis of the US retail market, believes that the keywords most interested in consumers in the second half of the year will be: “beauty”, “health”, “simple” and “exquisite”.
For example, in the clothing industry, consumers prefer products with design, comfortable fabrics and a better expression of their temperament. It is expected that the retro style and personalized men’s wear will be hot in the second half of the year, and clothing with fashion elements will also be loved by more markets.
Pet outdoor travel in the first half of the year showed a hot procurement demand. Qin Fen predicted that in the second half of this year, the demand for pet products has upgraded to “intelligent, environmental protection, beautiful, multi-functional”, consumers want to be able to “hand off” pet, pet boxes, smart pet feeding machines will become the explosive products in the second half of the year.
In addition, smart appliances, smart wearable and healthy life-related products will also explode, such as smart watches, fast charging appliances, hair care hair dryers, fruit and vegetable mixers.
In the field of non-consumer goods, “innovation”, “energy saving and environmental protection” is the key word in the second half of the year, trucks, excavators are still explosive products, electric vehicles, auto parts, etc., will continue to sell hot, and new energy-related products are more focused on providing solutions for consumers.
